حصلت عمادة تقنية المعلومات والاتصالات مؤخرا على شهادة tier iii facility من معهد UPTIME INSTITUTE والذي يعتبر الجهة العالمية الرائدة في مجال تقييم مراكز البيانات بناءً على استيفاء المركز للمعايير والشروط التي تشترطها أفضل الممارسات العالمية الخاصة بتصميم مراكز البيانات لتعد بذلك جامعة نجران أول جهة حكومية على مستوى المنطقة الجنوبية تحصل على هذه الشهادة حسب بيانات الموقع الإلكتروني للمعهد.
هذا ويتكون المركز من عدة أجزاء لكل جزء مهام ووظائف معينه فجزء الكهرباء والذي من أهم خصائصه هو استخدام ثلاث مصادر للتيار الكهربائي يعمل كل منها عند توقف أحدها مما يمكننا من المحافظة على استمرارية العمل بدون أنقطاع التيار الكهربائي في المركز حتى نسبة 99.98%.
والجزء الثاني أجهزة حفظ الطاقة المتصلة بمزودات الكهرباء الرئيسية وأهم أعمال هذه الأجهزة هي تمرير التيار الكهربائي الغير منقطع إلى أجهزة المركز الخدمية، كما تم الأخذ في الحسبان أن تعمل هذه الأجهزة بنظام توزيع الأحمال ،حيث أنها تعمل على مسارين مختلفين وفي حين أنه توقف مسار عن العمل فالمسار الآخر لديه القدرة على تشغيل مركز البيانات بالكامل. بينما يتمثل الجزء الثالث من المركز في غرفة الإتصالات والتي من أبرز مهامها ربط جميع مباني الجامعة بمركز البيانات عن طريق كيابل الألياف الضوئية وأيضاً من مسارين مختلفين وبسرعات عالية جداً. وكذلك تحتوي هذه الغرفة على دوائر الإتصال بالفروع الخارجية وأيضاً دوائر الإنترنت التي وصلت سرعتها إلى 1 جيجابت في الثانية وجاري العمل على زيادة السرعة إلى 3.5 جيجابت في الثانية، ويتمثل الجزء الرابع في الحاويات والذي تم تصميمها على شكل حاويتين كل حاوية تضم 20 كابينه يتخللها نظام التبريد المكون من خمس مكيفات in-row-cooling لكل حاويه والذي من أهم خصائصه المحافظة على الطاقة ، أما الجزء الخامس قلب مركز البيانات النابض وهو أجهزة الشبكة التي من خلالها يتدفق كم هائل من البيانات القادمة والمنبعثة من مركز البيانات بحيث تنجز العملية خلال أجزاء من الثانية وذلك لما تتمتع به أجهزة الشبكة من سرعات ومواصفات عالية جداً. ومن ثم تأتي الخوادم وأجهزة الأنظمة الأخرى والتي تحتوي على كل مايخص الجامعة من أنظمة وبيانات وجميع هذه الأجهزة تعمل تحت خاصية استمرارية العمل أو عدم الإنقطاع فعند توقف جهاز ما فإن جهاز آخر يقوم بنفس العمل دون أي استشعار من قبل المستخدم بأن هناك أي خلل. وكل هذه الأجهزة منوطة بأجهزة حماية ومراقبة على مدار الساعة تراقب جميع الأنظمة والأجهزة لمنع أي محاولات للنيل من بيانات أو أنظمة الجامعة. وحماية المركز يشكل الجزء السادس حيث تم تركيب حساسات الكشف عن الحرائق ونظام إطفاء الحرائق ونظام الإنذار وحساسات الكشف عن تسرب المياه وحساسات مراقبة الرطوبة، بالإضافة إلى تصميم جدران وزجاج مركز البيانات على أساس مقاومة الحريق لمدة ساعة ونصف وتم كذلك تركيب نظام التحكم في أبواب المركز بحيث يمنع دخول غير المصرح لهم إلى المركز.
وأخيراً فإن العمادة تصبوا إلى أن تصبح من الجهات الرائدة في هذا المجال سائلين المولى عز وجل أن يحفظ لنا أمننا وأماننا تحت راية دولتنا وحكامنا حفظهم الله.
